Wow and double wow! I am seriously impressed with the sounds of this incredibly gifted group of musical folk and can only say “oh how I wish I’d heard their music long ago during my days of attending ‘The Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire’ in Manheim Pennsylvania!” A place I made my yearly pilgrimage to along with my children.
Their music has been labeled acoustic roots and folk rock but I also feel a touch of the medieval quality mixed in (thinking King Arthurs Court maybe?) or maybe it’s that fantastic dress Charlie Rose is wearing! Whatever it is I’m sure if you give this music a listen you too will find yourself transported to a land where dreams do come true. I was fortunate enough to have a brief word with our lead vocalist and she mentioned that she and Alan co write many of their songs! I love knowing that about this band! The fact that two people really can make a go of their lives together when they share a common love such as music! Whether its writing lyrics, performing together, or just plain loving music completely!
In their current album ‘Journeys Of The Heart’ I got to listen to 3 incredible songs 1. ‘The Hangmans Daughter’ totally grabs you in the first 2 minutes and leaves you gasping for air or in my case ‘MORE MORE MORE’ ~puhleeze? Foot stompin’ and well worth a spin or two around the dance floor! All I can tell you on this one is, watch out for that hangman’s daughter! Love them bass tones folks! Next were the more folksy tones on ‘The Black Hills of Mendip’ lyrics and sounds a reminder that there are far too many injustices put upon the common everyday hardworking persons whose toils remain largely forgotten, ‘but the black hills of Mendip remain’ as perhaps a less than a satisfactory monument a blight in any proud nations past that is often and sadly overlooked! ‘The Keys Of Canterbury’ stir the roots of unrequited love to the core! The ettrick lady comes to mind here for a few minutes. There are the strong feelings of a man who is rejected, until he pours out his honest feelings to the one who has always had his heart. She accepts his outpouring of pure and honest devotion, never having wanted anything more than his heart all along. From their previous studio album ‘Livin It Lovin It’ comes ‘Mudeford Mood’ the last track I got to listen to. A song dedicated to a much loved area of the place called home. Home really is where the heart is and this song made me think of the place I call home.
