‘The Delta Ladies’ On to the Blues folks!!

FOLK LONDON 2.jpg

DELTA LADIES duo and DELTA LADIES BAND is Vicky Martin & Diana Stone – plus Lee Collins drums & percussiion, Rob Charles bass and occasional guests. I’ve been pleasantly jolted from my round of same ole same ole and quite enjoy their blend of classic rhythm & blues, swing and jive, vintage rock ‘n roll and bluegrass.

One of my favorites has been Vicky Martin’s song ‘Willow Tree’ – originally issued on the album ‘In Trouble Again’ by Elephant Shelf. The song is due to be re-recorded for the forthcoming DELTA LADIES new album. This song takes me to the Deep South of America, possibly even to N’rleans, maybe sipping a sweet tea while sitting under one of those incredible old willow trees so prevalent throughout the southeastern United States region, all the time just sitting and rocking back and forth asking the age old question of ‘why did you do that to me’ in reference to a failed relationship!

The Blues in particular have a way of helping me work through life one song at a time and sometimes even one note at a time and really that’s all any of us can do if we’re honest! The whole idea of hurrying life is completely lost when you can sit back and listen to songs like Willow Tree’ and know with complete certainty that ‘you will get through this’ (whatever ‘this’ happens to be! So whatever you happen to be going through in life, be it good times or tough ones I highly recommend you sit back with the music of life (aka Blues) and just let things take their course! Preferably while hearing songs like ‘Willow Tree’

While recently going through my own divorce I found certain styles and sounds to be particularly soothing and had I found this band I’m sure I’d have listened to them!

The DELTA LADIES have played hundreds of shows in the UK and Europe, including shows at London’s world famous 100 Club, the Famous Eel Pie Club (home of British Blues), they appeared with French Band AWEK at the Blues at Beziers Festival, and were backing band for Linda Gail Lewis (Jerry Lee’s sister).

Another song that intrigued me is ‘Devil Calling Out My Name’ with an impressive line up playing this bluesy number - go ahead and have a listen, be your own judge!

DELICIOUS~~~~
