Jo Long and The Pure Drop ‘Soldier Song’

I discovered this song and extremely talented musician on Reverbnation after a recommendation from Hard Drive Promotions to really listen to this lovely lady’s voice and I was not disappointed! Pure is certainly the word I’d use to describe the vocals on ‘Soldier Song’ This song has been labeled ‘country folk’ and there are many similar songs that bring to the fore the plight of our service persons world wide. This one is too heart achingly familiar and yet, as all songs will do for me, speaks personally!

Another song I’ve discovered that I really am fond of and have been a fan of since I first heard it years ago, sung by another favourite group 'The Corries' is ‘Wild Mountain Thyme’ and is quite possibly my top favourite of all time! It has also been titled ‘Go Lassie Go’ and is credited to Frances McPeake, a member of a well known musical family in Belfast, Ireland, and of Scottish origin. McPeake’s lyrics are a variant of the song “The Braes of Balquhither” by the Scottish poet Robert Tannahill.

Be sure to listen to these and many more by Jo Long & The Pure Drop, who hail from Southampton United Kingdom and, like me, enjoy the pure clean sounds and the songs from the heart that will surely delight any listener and purveyor of beautiful music that brings much joy~!.

The band members are:

Jo Long – Vocals, Guitar, Mandolin Don Oeters – Guitar, Piano, Vocals Jezz Kelway – Guitar, Vocals, Mandolin Rick Foot – Double bass, Vocals
