Colin Hay ‘Waiting For My Real Life To Begin’ AND ‘Beautiful World’

I'll be veering off my usual beaten path of writing and promoting unsigned artists for a wee while and I’ve got the ‘go ahead’ from the boss to do so! It’s not that we don’t or won’t continue supporting them and begin again in the more near future but for a time I shall write about music that moves me and maybe a bit more.
Most of us in the music world know the story about Colin and his meteoric rise to fame and glory with the band ‘Men At Work.’ Some of you might not and I can’t really say for certain what happened as I wasn’t there, however, I do loathe and despise gossip, paraded around as the gospel truth! Gossip DESTROYS and I won’t be a part of that driving force that is alive and well! Most notably, or should I say notoriously, famous on the social network scene~ I stood by and watched helplessly while my friend was literally ripped apart by so called well intentioned ‘friends’ of the dubious kind~ The sort I’d rather be dead around rather than associate with ever again! In fact, I even said a “Geeze, remind me to never piss you people off again” when they tore apart a terrific band who was rising to the top on the Independent Artists scene at the time and have since been ripped apart!
MOVING ON~
The 2 songs that Colin has written that mean so much to me in my ongoing struggle to survive are the above titled! I heard these songs a few years ago and have listened to them regularly ever since! In the first one he writes about waiting for his real life to begin and I feel certain that song applies to his struggles with the corporate world that nearly brought him down! I say nearly because Colin still writes, sings and performs and has a vast underground grass roots following to be reckoned with the way I am seeing him! Independent artists and the fans who love their music are quickly becoming a tidal surge that is most certain to be reckoned with! While Colin waits, it appears he is waiting actively by continuing to write, sing and perform! Like the lyrics I quoted last week, by the band Sabella:
“life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.” I say YES~
The other song I listen to nearly every morning is ‘Beautiful World’ and I relate to the joy in simply making a cup of tea and how that makes for a beautiful world.
Yes there a few things needed to survive!
Food, water, shelter but like all life forms there is a NEED to connect with other life as well! In human terms that ‘need’ is usually called love or some facsimile thereof! I think Colin has figured that out which is why he can honestly sing ‘my,my, my, it’s a beautiful world’ and truly mean just that! Thank you Colin Hay for pointing that out in your journey~
