71 Chain
This week's music blog is one I've been eager to write about ever since I "found" this group on Face Book via Hard Drive Promotions' MD, Dave Holmes who had told me of his love for not only them but also the band 'Coast' of which 71 Chain's two founders were former members This group have been around for quite a few years and have done some travelling in their careers!
From the very first song I was "hooked" on their sounds and quickly did a search on the internet superhighway to find more of their music.
My top pick was tough but I really like "Stories" the best as it really sums up the best and worst of humankind and the stories we ALL have to share about the places we've been and lives we've lived.
On 71 Chain's Social Media page this song was mainly for Germany 's anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall and that is a day I won't soon forget.
"stories of life, love and loss" is how it's worded on the video. I know so many stories about that day and about the times before the wall came down
A friend of mine in Germany once told me his story about being in what was then known as "Ost-Deutschland". He told me “I had visited Berlin on many occasions, Even though it was in the middle of the DDR, I was so scared on the journey there. There was only one ‘highway’ that could be used and leaving the route was not permitted - you really could ‘feel’ that you were travelling through enemy territory (this was during the ‘cold war’!!). I was so afraid that my car (a very old one at that time) would breakdown, what then? I was young and inexperienced, and the DDR belonged to the Soviet-Union, and the thought scared the hell out of me, but everything went fine. Today, the wall is a ‘living museum’, and ‘Checkpoint Charlie’ can be crossed without fear of being shot”.
Personally I can only imagine that sort of terror. .. However I digress on "the new band in my life ‘ 71 Chain’.
Members: Chris Lappage: Lead Vocals, Electric/Acoustic Guitar, Mandolin. Adam Bowden: Bass Guitar. Paul Meech: Acoustic Guitar, Mandolin. Mark 'Mongo' Mongan: Drums. Ryan Stevens: Electric/Acoustic Guitar, Mandolin, Backing Vocals(guesting when home from uni) are their names!

Bottom line for me is this,
We all have Stories to tell, do we all have someone to listen? Listen to the song and you be the judge!
My second favourite song of theirs is, "She Moves Through The Fayre" that has a folk rock sound that really caught my attention!
Anyone who knows me will also be aware that when it comes to Renaissance Faire styles and celebrations I am the first one there and the last one to leave! When I lived in Lancaster Pennsylvania: USA my "happy place" was at the "Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire" and I was a regular there, finding music, food and fun during the summers! I dragged my 6 children there as well and some of them showed a flair for the dramatics! Must be the De Havilland DNA ;-) I have a friend who works there tirelessly year after year!

Now here's the song for you to enjoy~!
If you liked those two songs stop by their web site: www.71-chain.com and their Face Book page and give them a "like" and please, as always, consider purchasing their CD and support the Independent Artists and the hard work and effort they bring in their "musics" and thank you~!
